Secure ventilation

Your poultry recipe for success

Imagine this: Plump, happy chickens, laying eggs like champions. What if something disrupts their air supply? Every poultry farmer knows the fear of ventilation failure. Secure ventilation isn't just a fancy term, it's your peace of mind.

The perfect "air cocktail" is key

Think of your coop as a living room for your feathered friends. Just as you wouldn't want your room to be stuffy or wildly fluctuating in temperature, neither do they. The right mix of air, temperature, and humidity (think oxygen, CO2, and moisture) is crucial:

  • For egg-laying hens: A stable climate is paramount. Fluctuations can significantly impact egg production. Imagine a calm, consistent environment maximizing their laying potential.

  • For rapidly growing broilers: For rapidly-growing broilers: Adjustments are needed as they transform from tiny chicks (45 grams) to impressive birds (2.5 kilograms) in just six weeks! Imagine trying to train an athlete in a constantly changing environment – that's the stress they face with inconsistent air.

Deviations from their "comfort zone" can lead to:

  • Reduced growth: Improper ventilation hinders feed conversion, impacting your bottom line.

  • Increased disease susceptibility: Stressful environments compromise their immune systems, opening the door to costly outbreaks.

  • Mortality: In extreme cases, temperature fluctuations can lead to devastating losses.

ABB drives offer smart features to keep your ventilation running even in tough situations

  • Climate computer failure: No worries! The drive detects the missing signal and switches to a safe fan speed, ensuring proper oxygen flow.

  • Broken fan belt: The drive recognizes the unloaded motor and triggers an alarm, giving you time to switch to a backup fan before your birds notice.

  • Overheated motor: To prevent fire risks, the drive detects high motor temperature and sounds an alarm, allowing for prompt action.

  • Power outages: Even with missing phases, ABB drives can keep some fans running at a lower speed, preventing overheating in your coop.

  • High temperature or internal drive failure: ABB drives have built-in features to handle these situations, ensuring continued ventilation even under stress.

  • Bonus: override switch for extra peace of mind: Think of this as your "smash the emergency glass" button, allowing manual control if needed. Investing in secure ventilation isn't just about fancy gadgets; it's about protecting your livelihood and your feathered friends' well-being. Remember: the cost of a ventilation failure can be much higher than the investment in quality equipment.

For ultimate security, consider:

  • Asynchronous motors: These can run directly online, even if the drive fails. So ECM (Electronically Commutated Motors) technology is not really safe and also PM (Permanent Magnet) motors cannot run online when the drive is failing. Asynchronous motors with bypass switch are the safest choice.

So, ditch the fear and focus on what you do best: raising thriving chickens and collecting those golden eggs! With secure ventilation, you can rest easy knowing your flock is safe and your business is protected.
